ABSTRACT: In an increasingly complex and fast-paced business environment, organisations must navigate constant change, technological disruption, and shifting customer expectations. Traditional leadership models, which often focus on hierarchy, control, and long-term planning, struggle to keep pace with these challenges. These traditional models are often insufficient or ill-equipped to drive organisational success. Agile leadership, characterised by adaptability, collaboration, empowerment, and continuous learning, has emerged as a critical approach for organisations to remain competitive and innovative. This paper positions agile leadership as necessary for organisational success. The discussion shows how agile leadership enables faster decision-making, fosters a culture of innovation, and enhances employee engagement. By empowering teams to operate with greater autonomy and embrace change, agile leadership helps organisations respond rapidly to shifting market demands and technological advancements. Additionally, this leadership style supports the development of customer-centric strategies that are essential in maintaining relevance in competitive markets. Through real-world examples and a proposed conceptual framework, this paper demonstrates that agile leadership is not only beneficial but essential for organisations seeking long-term sustainability and success in a dynamic global landscape.

11. Stress assessment in patients with medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw

Teodora S. Medneva 1 and Rosen B. Tsolov 2

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5311

ABSTRACT: Objectives: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) has become increasingly common due to the widespread use of antiresorptive drugs in cancer and osteoporosis treatment. Cancer diagnosis and treatment, particularly with concurrent serious illnesses, impose significant stress on patients. There is welldocumented evidence linking cancer progression with stress, suggesting that psychosocial factors may influence disease development. This study aimed to evaluate stress levels in MRONJ patients, defining their physical, psychological, and behavioral responses, and exploring correlations between stress levels and socio-demographic factors (gender, age, education, residence). Methods: A total of 82 MRONJ patients at various stages of the disease, with different primary cancer types, completed a validated stress symptom checklist (SSCL). Additionally, they provided socio-demographic information, including gender, age, residence, education, occupation, type of cancer, MRONJ phase, and necrosis location. Results: The majority of MRONJ patients experienced high to very high stress levels, irrespective of sex, age, primary diagnosis, or MRONJ stage. Stress level data indicated that 5% had moderate stress, 35.5% had high stress, and 60% experienced very high stress. Anxiety was the most common psychological symptom (92.7%), followed by temper flare-ups (74.4%), restlessness (69%), irritability (63.4%), and depression (61%). The study highlighted the significant impact of prolonged stress on both general health and cancer progression in MRONJ patients. Conclusion: The findings underline the need for preventive strategies to mitigate stress in cancer patients at risk of MRONJ. Integrating stress-reduction practices in treatment plans could potentially benefit overall patient health and improve treatment outcomes.

17. Emotional intelligence in early adulthood: empirical findings and implications

Mayiana Mitevska, Paulina Tsvetkova

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5317

ABSTRACT: This current study presents empirical findings on emotional intelligence in early adulthood. Previous research suggests that emotional intelligence does not develop during early childhood and is not heritable; rather, it appears to increase with age. Older adults, despite facing greater emotional challenges, often report higher subjective well-being and exhibit better emotional regulation compared to younger individuals. This study specifically examines respondents in early adulthood, from 20 to 40, with a sample of 183 university students from Sofia, Plovdiv and Burgas, situated in Bulgaria. Participants were divided into two age groups: those under 29 and those over 29. A questionnaire adapted for Bulgarian contexts by Dr. Antonina Kardasheva, based on Konstantinos Petrides' model of emotional intelligence, was employed to measure EI as a personality trait. The questionnaire assesses four components: well-being, self-control, emotionality, and sociability. Results indicate significant differences in emotional intelligence factors across age groups, with a strong correlation identified between emotional intelligence, gender, and the chosen field of study. These findings support the hypothesis that emotional intelligence may increase with age and highlight the importance of considering demographic factors when examining emotional intelligence.

20. FINANCING DECISIONS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES

Olutayo K. Osunsan 1, Alinitwe Joshua 2, Naiga Sylvia 2,3, Tindimwebwa Joseline 3,4, Namirembe Isabella 2, Muguluma Henry 4

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5320

ABSTRACT: This study investigates the influence of owner-manager demographic factors on financing decisions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Kampala, Uganda. A sample of 193 SMEs from the trade, service, and manufacturing sectors was surveyed. The study examined the impact of gender, age, marital status, education level, and work experience on SME financing decisions using independent t-tests and one-way ANOVA. Results indicate a statistically significant difference in financing decisions between female and male owner-managers, though the practical significance of this difference is limited. No significant differences were found based on age, marital status, education level, or work experience. These findings suggest that demographic factors may play a limited role in SME financing decisions in the context of Uganda, contrary to some previous studies. The study recommends further investigation into other potential influencing factors such as financial literacy and access to resources. It also calls for targeted support programs and policy initiatives to enhance financial decision-making capabilities across all demographic groups in the SME sector.

Paulina Tsvetkova, Mayiana Mitevska

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5321

ABSTRACT: The present study involves an analysis of emotional intelligence among young adults. The age group of the participants is between 20 and 38 years and their number is 67. All the individuals are students in undergraduate programs . The methodology used was a questionnaire for measuring emotional intelligence as a personality trait, a short version adapted into Bulgarian by Dr. Antonina Kardasheva. The author of the test itself is Petrides, whose model reflects the subjective processes of emotional experiences and perceptions of the inner world. The components of the questionnaire are well-being, self-control, emotionality and sociability. After processing the results, it is clear that there are differences in the factors of emotional intelligence at different ages. The influence of gender on these constructs was also revealed. This provides a reason for future research work on the components of emotional intelligence and its relationship with personality traits, temperament and selfefficacy of the individual.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5322

ABSTRACT: The ready-made garments (RMG) industry is a cornerstone of Bangladesh's economy, but its rapid expansion has raised significant concerns about environmental and social sustainability. As global consumer preferences shift toward more eco-friendly products, sustainable marketing practices have become increasingly important for businesses in this sector. This study investigates the relationship between consumer behavior and sustainable marketing in Bangladesh's RMG industry, exploring both consumer awareness and the challenges faced by businesses in adopting sustainability-focused strategies. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research incorporates quantitative data from a consumer survey and qualitative insights from interviews with industry stakeholders. The findings reveal that while a growing segment of consumers expresses a positive attitude toward sustainability, actual purchasing behavior is often constrained by higher costs and limited availability of sustainable garments. On the business side, financial and operational barriers prevent many companies, especially SMEs, from fully embracing sustainable marketing. However, the rise of digital marketing platforms and international demand for ethical products present significant opportunities for growth. The study concludes that businesses that effectively communicate their sustainability efforts and leverage digital tools can tap into a growing market segment, enhancing brand loyalty and long-term profitability

ABSTRACT: Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services play a crucial role in supporting children with developmental delays and/or disabilities, focusing on both child and family needs. However, barriers such as funding limitations, policy gaps, and societal stigma can restrict access and quality of these services. This study sought to capture the perceptions of ECI professionals in Kosovo regarding current service delivery, training requirements, challenges, and key priorities for strengthening support. Data was collected from 70 professionals across various roles through a structured survey that addressed service settings, professional development, perceived obstacles, and improvement recommendations. Analysis showed that most ECI sessions occur at service centers (84.93%) or childcare facilities (10.50%), while home-based interventions remain limited (0.70%). Although nearly all respondents receive some form of in-service training, over one-third reported receiving less than 10 hours annually. Significant challenges highlighted by professionals included community stigma affecting (10.51%) of families and funding constraints cited by (9.30%) of respondents. To enhance service effectiveness, professionals emphasized the need for expanded advocacy, stronger policy support, increased developmental assessments, and more robust training opportunities.

ABSTRACT: This study investigates the experiences and emotions of parents with children who have special needs, emphasizing the effects of parental stress, insufficient information, and professional help on their capacity to aid their children. The objective of the research is to identify the obstacles and problems encountered by parents and to provide ideas for formulating supporting methods. Methodology: The research included 60 parents of children with special needs who filled out a questionnaire to evaluate their experiences and emotions. We used SPSS v.27 software to evaluate the gathered data, including descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis. The findings revealed a substantial correlation between parental stress levels and inadequate parenting skills. Parents who indicated insufficient knowledge demonstrated a diminished trust in their ability to assist their children. The absence of professional help exacerbated emotions of dissatisfaction and ineffectiveness. The study concluded that parental hurdles include stress, insufficient support, and lack of information, adversely impacting their experiences as caregivers. Recommendation: To assist parents, it is essential to improve the availability of educational materials and professional assistance. Support should include support groups, family therapy, and the establishment of community networks to mitigate feelings of isolation. This method may enhance the welfare of parents and the growth of children with special needs.

ABSTRACT: Karanggonggo Village has become known for its white sand beach and various other beaches that serve as tourist attractions. Nonetheless, numerous small-scale fishermen continue to engage in fishing activities. Smallscale fisherman employ vessels with a power output below 20 PK and utilize various fishing gear, including nets. This study aims to examine the economic conduct of small-scale fishing households regarding production activities, labor hours, household income, consumption habits, and overall welfare levels. This survey had 34 households as respondents. The findings indicated that the production behavior of fisher households encompassed both fishing and farming activities within the perhutani region. Fishing activities occur for four months during the peak season each year. The mean duration at sea is 12 hours daily. Throughout the fishing season, daily trips to the sea occur. The species of fish caught are layur, tongkol, tengiri, and anchovies. In the moderate season, the typical individual ventures to sea 4 to 5 times weekly. The primary catch during the medium season consists of squid and octopus. During the off-season for fishing, fishermen engage in agricultural pursuits. Merely four responders continue to venture to sea despite the absence of the fishing season. Through fishing and farming operations, households can satisfy their fundamental food and non-food requirements. Certain responders are capable of saving their income. According to the BPS welfare indicator criteria from 2014, smallscale fishing households in Karanggandu Village are classified as rich families. Many households in the Watulimo Sub-district region have yet to access health facilities.

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5330

ABSTRACT: This study explores the relationship between development aid and cultural dignity in the context of the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. It examines the impact of humanitarian aid programs on the cultural identity of the Rohingya refugees, the challenges in balancing short-term aid with long-term cultural preservation, and the role of refugee participation in aid program design. Additionally, it investigates the political and social factors influencing the integration of cultural dignity into aid efforts and assesses the recognition of the Rohingya's cultural rights by national authorities. The findings indicate that while humanitarian aid has addressed immediate survival needs, it has often overlooked the cultural practices and values of the refugees. A significant gap exists between the provision of material aid and the preservation of cultural identity, with refugees reporting feelings of cultural marginalization. The study also highlights the limited involvement of refugees in decisionmaking and the challenges posed by political reluctance to recognize their cultural rights. The paper concludes by offering recommendations to improve the integration of cultural dignity in refugee aid programs, including increased refugee participation, cultural sensitivity, and the recognition of cultural rights by national authorities.

32. DEMOCRACY, GOOD GOVERNANCE AND LEADERSHIP CHALLENGES: A PERSPECTIVE FOR NATIONAL COHESION AND DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA

OLABODE, OMOLEYE (PhD)

DOI: https://doi.org/10.56293/IJMSSSR.2024.5332

ABSTRACT: This study examined democracy, good governance and leadership challenges as a perspective for national cohesion and development in Nigeria. The structural conflict theory was used to appraise the main argument of the paper. The study employed content analysis to x-ray the daunting challenges facing national unity in Nigeria. The findings show that the challenges militating against National Unity in Nigeria have exhibited ethnic and religious colorations, and portray clear manifestations of frustration resulting from bad governance and leadership challenges. It also found that after five decades of Nigeria's independence, successive governments have designed a plethora of constitutional policies aimed at uniting the over 350 ethnic groups that made up the country, yet the problems still persist. The paper therefore concludes that unless governmental policies and actions are informed and geared towards the achievement of effective, transparent and accountable leadership which will in turn guarantee good governance, the quest for national cohesion will continue to be a mirage. The paper recommends that there is the need for inculcating dynamic and functional political culture that will ensure responsive and responsible leadership and restore transparency and accountability in governance at all levels with a view to receive new ideas and information that would improve service delivery and promote national cohesion.
